Mars & Co was founded in 1979 by Dominique Mars, then a Director of The Boston Consulting Group. He thought it was essential for a strategy consulting firm to guarantee each and every one of its clients the exclusivity of its services, thus limiting itself to a selected number of clients. Because it wasn't the direction BCG was headed towards, he founded Mars & Co in order to practice what he was preaching.
Since its inception, Mars & Co's goals, mission and rules of engagement have never changed. Its major "raison d'être" has remained to bring a limited number of world-class clients a unique competitive edge. Being and remaining the only strategy consulting firm of any consequence to guarantee "fidelity" to its clients enables Mars & Co to forge with its clients strong partnerships that can span decades.
At present, Mars & Co serves its clients from a geographically well-balanced base of 6 offices:
- 2 European offices (London, Paris)
- 2 American offices (New York, San Francisco)
- 2 Asia-Pacific offices (Tokyo, Shanghai)
